Obtaining and selling gems from mines The KGK group, now a multinational conglomerate, had its start in the gem-trading business. They have invested heavily in four mines (two Emerald mines, one Paraiba mine, and one Rhodolite garnet mine), so gemstone mining and processing remains an important part of their business. Emerald is a precious gemstone, while Paraiba and Rubellite are considered semi-precious. The KGK Group is presently involved in primary natural gemstone mining in South America and Africa.
